Congresswoman Lois Capps Endorses Hilda for Assembly
Hilda Zacarias, Democratic candidate for the 33rd State Assembly District, has been endorsed by the California Nurses Association, the Equality California, and the National Latino Peace Officers Association. National Latino Peace Officers Association Chairperson Hank Aguilar praised Ms. Zacarias for her “commitment to community and leadership.” He noted that her “dedication to public service and to the people of California is commendable.”
“I am pleased to accept the endorsements of these important organizations,” said Ms. Zacarias. “I will work to end the stalemate in Sacramento, using my financial background and understanding of the needs of California citizens to reduce costs in ways that preserve funding to vital services.”
Ms. Zacarias also received the endorsement of 100% of the Democratic party delegates to the California Democratic Party pre-endorsement caucus in Ventura, demonstrating the commitment of the Democratic Party to her candidacy.
Ms. Zacarias is a Santa Maria City Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem. A former accountant, educator, and graduate of Cal Poly, she is also the Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Family Care Center. She has served on the Santa Maria Joint Union High School Board and many nonprofit Boards. Ms. Zacarías is supported by a diverse coalition of community members including elected officials, business owners, law enforcement, teachers, students, and grassroots leaders.
Zacarias is the only announced Democratic candidate for the 33rd Assembly District, which stretches from San Miguel to Lompoc.
