Hilda Zacarias, Democratic candidate for the 33^rd State Assembly District, has been endorsed by the statewide California Federation of Teachers. Kenneth Burt, CFT Political Director, wrote that Zacarias has the "integrity, intelligence, and experience to be an outstanding member of the California State Assembly." He added that Zacarias would protect the interests of working families while promoting California's educational system.

The California Federation of Teachers represents faculty and classified workers in public and private schools and colleges, from early childhood though higher education.

In accepting the endorsement, Ms. Zacarias said, "I am proud to receive the California Federation of Teachers' endorsement. It will take courage to make the hard choices necessary to balance the state budget, and the CFT knows that I will consider the needs of every Californian."

Ms. Zacarias has dedicated a lifetime of public service to the residents of the Central Coast  and currently serves as City Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem in the City of Santa Maria. A former accountant, educator, and graduate of Cal Poly, she is the Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Family Care Center.

Zacarias is the only announced Democratic candidate for the 33^rd Assembly District, which stretches from San Miguel to Lompoc.
